With the weather heatin’ up outside, my Lady is lookin’ for treats to help cool us pups down. Now I will say that I will take a treat in any form it comes in, but I gotta admit this Homemade Pumpkin and Banana Kong Filler is a winner! Us pups like ours frozen. On an extra hot humid day, and with our temps hittin’ in the triple digits, a frozen Kong filler is an extra tasty and coolin’ treat! Ain’t nothin’ better than layin’ up on the porch workin’ on a woofalicious frozen treat!
My Lady’s Homemade Pumpkin and Banana Kong Filler is not only tasty, but gives us somethin’ to occupy ourselves. It’s just to darn hot and humid to go runnin’ and rompin’. But who wants to waste energy runnin’ in this heat when we have fun frozen nutritious treats to work on? WOOF!
Homemade Pumpkin and Banana Kong Filler
1/2 of a banana
1/4 cup pumpkin puree
1/4 cup dry dog food
Mix all ingredients together in a bowl until the banana is mashed well and all ingredients are well combined.
Spoon into Kong with a little on the outside so your dog can get a taste of it.
The Kong treat can be given at room temperature.
Or, for a special treat on a hot day, place the in the freezer for a few hours – my pups favorite!
Remove from freezer and give to the pups. Their eyes, and taste buds, will light up and you can watch them enjoy their delicious treat and activity!
**NOTE: If there is any filler left over, keep in a covered container in the fridge for up to three days to use later.
