Dog Gone Dirt | Organic Dog Shampoo Review

Dog Gone Dirt, Organic Castile Dog Shampoo, Organic Dog Shampoo

I have decided I like takin’ a bath! I’m not sure ’bout makin’ me look purty, but I sure do feel good after one! My Lady got a new organic dog shampoo for us the other day. She’s always a huntin’ a pet shampoo to try and help Sallie and Seager with their itchy, flaky skin problems. Sallie has all them allergies goin’ on and gets sores from all her diggin’. Seager don’t really itch and have sores, but he has some bad flaky dandruff! I’m gonna let my Lady tell ya all about this new shampoo:

Here’s my Lady’s Review on the Dog Gone Dirt Organic Castile Dog Shampoo:

Miss Molly is right about me always hunting a pet shampoo that won’t irritate their skin! We have tried all kinds to alleviate the skin problem for Sallie especially. You guys may remember me telling you about her skin allergies. She has them really bad! Seager, on the other hand, doesn’t itch or get sores, but he has white flakes that look like dandruff. Miss Molly and Maggie, thankfully, are not bothered with allergies at all.

In my hunt for another shampoo, I came across Dog Gone Dirt. Their Organic Castile Dog Shampoo caught my eye because it is all organic. It is specifically for dogs and even horses with skin irritations, dermatitis and flaky skin! We have tried the usual shampoos from the stores, and even medicated ones from the vet’s office, so far nothing has actually helped. I wanted to give this organic dog shampoo, which is chemical free, a try!

Organic Dog Shampoo Ingredients

The Castile Organic Dog Shampoo does not contain any chemical preservatives, sulfates, or other synthetic additives, making it one of the gentlest liquid soaps available. Instead, it uses these therapeutic grade essential oils:

  • Lavender: Calming and soothing to the skin.
  • Peppermint: Relieves itching- a soothing cooling feel, it nourishes dull skin and improves oily skin.
  • Melaleuca quinquenervia: Antibacterial and antihistaminic properties, supports skin health, it’s like Tea Tree, but has a more delicate aroma and is said to be gentler by nature.
  • Helichrysum: Analgesic, anti-inflammatory and known for its restorative properties and provides excellent support to the skin.

The Organic Castile Dog Shampoo has a light fresh scent that in my opinion is pleasant, without all the perfume smell. It contains coconut oil, which gently cleanses without irritating sensitive skin. It produces a nice rich lather with just small amount. It also has sunflower oil, which helps make their coats healthy and shiny. The castor oil it contains, soothes the skin and promotes healing.

My Opinion of the Organic Castile Dog Shampoo

With our four furbabies, I only bathe them about once a month. They are big dogs, and with the skin issues already, I don’t want to add to it by drying their skin out even further. With Molly and Maggie, I could probably use any shampoo and it be fine on them. The true test was with Sallie and Seager. So did the organic dog shampoo work? With Seager and his dandruff issues – yes, the organic dog shampoo worked wonders!! Normally, the dandruff shows up a day behind the bath. After shampooing with the organic castile dog shampoo, there was no dandruff! His coat was shiny and soft, with no ugly flakes! Sallie’s coat was equally shiny and soft. As with Seager, it is usually the day after that she starts in with the digging and scratching. This organic dog shampoo, on the other hand, seemed to calm her itching down instead of irritating it further! I won’t go so far as to say it cured her problems, because she still has issues. But, it did alleviate some of her itching and that is what leads to the sores.

All in all, I am very pleased with the Organic Castile Dog Shampoo! Sallie is the main test and anything that can bring her a little comfort, I am all for it! It seemed to help moisturize her skin, instead of drying her out and making her problems worse. I would totally recommend the Dog Gone Dirt Organic Castile Dog Shampoo for your furbabies!

I will give you back to Miss Molly for her two cents worth…

Woof! That was a lotta information wasn’t it? I don’t understand a lot of that talk. All I know is it made me feel good! My brother and sister aren’t doin’ all that diggin’ and scratchin’ they usually do. And, my Lady says it is good for our skin and coats. So, for all us furbabies we vote yes, we like it!
