It is an easy recipe too and with apple and sweet potatoes, you can’t go wrong!
Homemade Sweet Potato Banana Dog Treats
Ingredients:
2 cups Whole Wheat Flour – divided (1 1/2 cups for recipe the other 1/2 cup for rolling out dough)
1/4 cup Whole Oats
1 Banana
2 eggs
1 4oz jar of Sweet Potato baby food (I used chicken and sweet potato for some added flavor)
(Will need parchment paper)
How to make these woofalicious Sweet Potato Banana Dog Treats
Preheat oven to 300 F
Mash banana in a bowl then add the sweet potato baby food. Mix until well combined.
In another bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, oats and eggs.
Combine the sweet potatoes and banana mixture with the flour mixture and stir until all ingredients are combined.
Using the 1/2 cup of wheat flour, sprinkle some out on your work surface and kneed the dough, adding the extra flour as you go until the mixture is not sticky and is able to be flattened out to 1/4 inch thick.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Using a butter knife, cut the dough into 1 inch x 1 inch squares and place on the lined cookie sheet.
I used the back end of a fork to make impressions, simply for style, this is optional.
Bake at 300 F for 45-55 minutes.
Once they are done baking, turn off the oven and let them cool completely in the oven so they can dry out as much as possible.
Once cooled, store in an air tight container. They should last a few days on the counter.
Will keep longer if stored in the refrigerator or freezer.
Let your pooch enjoy!
