We’re really excited today because we have a real life story of metabolic weight loss to tell ya about! Sometimes just hearin’ about strangers don’t mean a whole lot. But, when they are actual friends of yours and you can talk to em, it means a whole lot more. Well, one of my doggie bloggin’ friends named Dash has been on the Hill’s® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution food for a bit now. He’s sure a cute little fella, but he was a packin’ on pounds. Them extra pounds was a gettin’ him down, causin’ him some ailments.
But, here’s the excitin’ part! My Lady and his fur Mom got to talkin’. Y’all know how it goes when one mom talks to another mom don’t ya? They don’t hold nothin’ back! My Lady was particularly interested seein’ as to how she just started my brother Seager on the metabolic weight loss food too! She wanted the low down nitty gritty of it and asked Dash’s Mom all about. I’m gonna let my Lady tell ya what they talked about and she even got a before and after pictures of Dash to show ya!
Dash – he’s a cute little fella ain’t he?!
Here’s my Lady to tell ya Dash’s Real Life Metabolic Weight Loss Success Story
Since we ourselves are heading into the Metabolic Weight Loss journey, I was super excited to have a chance to speak with a real life friend about the Metabolic Weight Loss Solution! I was full of questions for Rebecca of The Philly Dog about her little Dash! Dash is a cute little 9 year old Yorkie! Rebecca got Dash from a breeder when he was only 2 years old. She said he literally wrapped his little paws around her neck. Even though she had wanted a girl, them little paws around her neck sold the deal! Dash has been with her now for the past 7 years and is now 9 years old.
When I asked Rebecca what some of Dash’s favorite things to do were she said he loved to play fetch with his orange ball (and only his orange ball!), chase squirrels and play tug. Her favorite activities with Dash included playing fetch, cuddling, going for walks and hiking.
Even being chubby, isn’t he the most adorable thing?!
I asked her how long she had been noticing that Dash was overweight and how exactly did she know he was overweight. She said she has been noticing for the past 3 years. She also very bluntly said – he was fat! She said it was hard not to notice ‑ at his heaviest he was 12 pounds! He had joined the overweight club! For you and me that doesn’t sound like a lot, but for a Yorkie it is a ton! Dash’s normal weight should have been 8 pounds! Every pound counts immensely when you’re that small!
Most of us know that a lot of times there is a connection between weight and quality of life, so I was really interested in knowing if she had noticed this with Dash. When I asked, she said:
ABSOLUTELY. His collapsing trachea worsened (vet said the excess weight was making it worse).
His luxating patellas popped more often.
He couldn’t play fetch for as long as he used to. He didn’t want to go for walks.
He slept more.
I also wanted to know if she had tried other dog weight loss products. She said no, but that she had tried to just cut back on treats and food. She also said one vet had suggested low-fat kibble.
If you’ve been following along with our postings on the Hill’s Prescription Diet Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution, then you already know that weight loss is achievable by activating the metabolism to regulate appetite and burn fat. With the Hill’s Metabolic Weight Loss food there are no strict protocols or precise measuring. Results show that 88% of pets in a veterinarian supervised in-home study lost weight. While eating Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution, an obese pet’s metabolism changes to act more like that of a lean pet.
Rebecca made the decision to start Dash on the Hill’s Prescription Diet Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution. Dash had been on it a bit of time now and has lost all but 1 pound to his goal weight! WOO HOO! Go Dash!
But now, let’s get down to the 2 nitty gritty questions on my mind…
1) I wanted to know how was Hill’s® Prescription Diet® Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution food and treats working for Dash?
It seems to be working well. My dog does not like to eat it, though, and does so quite reluctantly. He only eats the treats with serious prodding. I’m not sure if we will continue with the food once he does lose all of the weight.
In all honesty, and after talking some more – Dash was used to eating a raw diet. So, it was a bit of a shock to go to the dry kibble and canned food. She says these days, he reluctantly eats it but he does eat it all.
2) I also wanted to know how easy it was for Dash to lose weight with the Hill’s Prescription Diet Metabolic Advanced Weight Solution food and treats?
VERY easy. It’s much easier than constantly worrying about what I can and can’t feed him.
After hearing Dash’s story and talking with Rebecca, it has satisfied a lot of my questions and worries. I am really excited for Seager’s metabolic weight loss journey to take off! Before, I was going on statistics and people’s stories that I don’t even know. But, knowing that a friend has actually been through it, seals the deal for me! I am excited for Dash and his playful little self! Isn’t he the most adorable pup?! We wish him the very best on losing that last pound!
We would like to thank Rebecca for sharing Dash’s dog weight loss story. We would also like to say a special thanks for also sharing the adorable pictures of Dash!

This is really good to know. I had a relative whose dog was hugely overweight, but they just overfed it all the time. It never ocurred to me it might take more than smaller portions to help a dog lose weight, and also the medical conditions it can create.
