Pet Weight Loss When Food is Love | Redefining Love #HillsPet

I love my furbabies just as if they were my children! Being pets, one of the ways I show my love is with treats and tidbits of food. Pets love food, right? At least when I give them treats or tidbits of food, there are lots of happy smiling faces and wagging tails. In my mind, this is a way of showing my love for them. At the same time, I want what’s best my furbabies. I want them to be happy AND healthy!

Even though there are a lot of ways to show our pets we love them, food and treats seem to be common. I’m just as guilty as the next person! Unfortunately, this is causing some overweight dogs at my house.

It’s so hard to resist those sad pleading eyes and begging moans, especially when you’re eating and they are watching your every move! Believe me, I’ve been there! Somehow I feel guilty if I don’t give them a taste of what I’m eating. There was a time I would even give them a taste after each meal. It was my way of showing them I loved them and they weren’t being left out. It made them so happy. Even though it wasn’t much, just a bite or two, they started packing on the pounds. I didn’t realize what I was doing to them. Then comes the day when you look at them and rolls are adding up. Or, the vet happens to mention they are getting a little hefty! It’s a hard pill to swallow knowing you’ve contributed to it!

If you’re like me and already have an overweight pet, there is help! Hill’s recognizes that for pet parents, food is love and pet weight loss is an issue! Food is how we show our pets we love them!
