Choosing the right flooring for your home is important, no matter who you are or what you do.
But when you add a pet into the mix, it becomes even more important to choose wisely, as different flooring options present different challenges and benefits for both you and your furry friend.
So, what are the best home flooring options for pet owners? Read on to learn more about flooring options for pet owners.
Tile Flooring
Tile is a great option for pet owners, as it is durable, easy to clean, and resistant to both scratches and stains.
It can also be a great choice if you have allergies, as it doesn’t harbor dust or other allergens like other flooring options.
The only downside to tile is that it can be cold.
As such, you may want to consider adding a rug or mat to make it more comfortable for your pet.
Engineered Wood Flooring
While some homeowners shy away from hardwood floors because they are afraid of scratches, engineered wood floors can actually be a great option for homes with pets.
They are made of multiple layers of wood, with a hardwood veneer on the top that can be sanded and refinished if it becomes scratched.
Engineered oak flooring also comes in various colors and styles, so you can find one that fits your home’s decor.
Laminate Flooring
Laminate flooring is another strong option for pet owners.
It is scratch-resistant and easy to clean, making it ideal for homes with furry friends.
It is also a fairly affordable flooring option, which can be a plus for those who are on a budget.
However, it can be warped by moisture, making it unsuitable for homes in humid areas.
Vinyl Flooring
Vinyl flooring is a great choice for pet owners because it’s durable, waterproof, and scuff-resistant.
That means that even if your dog or cat has an accident, it can withstand the mess without any damage.
In addition, it’s also a low-cost and low-maintenance option, which is another plus for pet owners.
So, if you’re looking for an affordable flooring material that can handle everything your pet can throw at it, vinyl is a great option.
No matter what type of pet you have, it’s important to choose a flooring option that is durable and easy to clean.
Otherwise, you’ll end up spending a lot of time and money on repairs and replacements.
Try one of the mentioned flooring options for peace of mind and a happy pet!

With my latest home, I put down "luxury" vinyl sheet flooring because it would have minimal seams. The downside to it, is if you get a gash in it you can't just peel up an individual plank. There are some standard colors of vinyl tube filler that can help disguise gashes.
