Ways To Make Cleaning Dogs Teeth Easier

Start early in their lives. Don’t wait until they are adult dogs to begin this practice. Start early when they are puppies with regular cleaning. Something as simple as a damp washcloth to wipe their teeth and gums can help tremendously. It lets the puppy get use to you manipulating their mouth open and having your hand near it with no fear present. If they learn it is normal at a young age, it will be much easier to manage as they get older.

Use dog treats designed for cleaning. There are a multitude of both rubber toys with knobs and grooves, as well as simple treats for them to snack on that can easily clean your dogs teeth without your hand getting near their mouth. While these are not as effective, they will help and can be an alternative for those who have dogs that tend to bite easier.

Use a water additive daily. You may remember me telling you about the TropiClean Water Additive that we use daily. TropiClean is great for added protection against bad breath and gum disease. It’s easy to use – just add to their water bowl. It helps keep their teeth and gums healthy by removing plaque and tartar, while freshening their breath! That’s a big bonus 🙂 Plus, it’s great for pets that don’t like you going near their mouth.

Let your veterinarian do it for you. This is by far the easiest way to make cleaning dogs teeth easier, but it is also typically the most expensive. Most veterinarians are use to dealing with rambunctious dogs with dirty teeth. Whether they are able to simply wrangle your dog and hold them down gently while they clean, or put them to sleep to make the process easier a veterinarian is always a great and easy option.

Cleaning your dogs teeth easier shouldn’t be a problem for you. There are multiple methods, aside from the liver paste and toothbrushes designed for dogs. It is difficult to manually clean a dogs teeth, but as a good pet owner you should be careful about their dental health. Make sure to watch for signs of distress, and use some cleaning method.

My little girl just hates to have her teeth brushed and doesn't like eating those dental chews either. It's so hard to know what to do for her dental health. I might just have to try the idea of using a water additive daily. That just might work! Thanks for the tips.

Love these woofs?

Help spread our waggie tales. You're pawesome for doing it!
