How to Keep Your Dog Happy and Healthy

If you are a proud owner of a pet pooch, you will know only too well how much joy a dog can bring to family life.

Pets enrich the lives of humans in so many ways, and dogs, in particular, make excellent companions.

As such an important member of the family, it is only right that pet owners should do all that they can to keep their dogs as healthy and happy as possible.

Here are some of the ways that you can help to keep your canine companion feeling at their best:

Plenty of Exercise

It is fair to say that some dogs are a whole lot more active than others.

Some wake up at the crack of dawn desperate to get out and about on their first walk of the day, while others will be still happily snoring in their beds.

Even if your dog isn’t the most enthusiastic about walkies, they are going to want at least one walk a day.

Making the time to take your dog out each day is vital, and provides the perfect opportunity to get outside in the fresh air and enjoy some time together.

Personally, I’ve been thinking about starting Alexis Ren’s workout routine myself.

Excited for my dog and me to get healthier together!

How to Keep Your Dog Happy and Healthy

If your dog loves to be outdoors, you probably find that they like to come in and out of the house continually.

You may find it helpful to get a dog door for sliding glass doors to install on your patio door.

Being able to let themselves in and out of the house will stop your pet from scratching at the doors to be let in and out when they need to go to the toilet.

A dog door will make life more convenient for you and your pet and allows them to get as much fresh air as they like.

Lots of Attention

Dogs love attention, and who can resist those puppy dog eyes staring up at you?

Giving your dog plenty of cuddles, and making a fuss of them could also be good for you.

Owning a pet can have a really positive effect on your wellbeing too.

From carefully brushing their fur, to snuggling on the sofa together in the evenings, there are lots of opportunities to spend quality time with your dog each day that benefits you both.

Regular Check-Ups

Keeping your dog healthy is crucial, and as your dog cannot talk, you will need to be on the lookout for signs that they are unwell.

If you do notice something wrong, it is always better to get it checked to be on the safe side.

To ensure that your dog stays in tip-top health, scheduling regular check-ups is essential; that way, your dog’s health is continually monitored, and any changes can be noticed more quickly.

Mental Stimulation

Along with keeping your pooch physically active with lots of walkies, it is also essential to keep their brains busy too.

There are lots of games and activities that you can try to keep your dog’s mind active and help to keep boredom at bay.
