Here’s my Lady to tell ya How You Can Have Healthier Pets. Happier Lives.™

I have always been a firm believer in regular checkups, preventive care, and good nutrition for my dogs. Over the years, it has helped keep all my pets at their healthiest and living long, happy lives. First, let me say, there is no substitute for good nutrition! There simply isn’t. Additionally, regular veterinary checkups and preventive care catches many medical problems early. The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) recommends that all pets have a check-up at least annually, with senior screenings starting at age 7.

I’m not sick! I’m just visiting the Lady in the white coat to get my routine checkup today WOOF!

Ozzy’s Story

If it weren’t for regular checkups, I would never have known about the issue with Ozzy’s bones in his legs when he was a puppy. A regular vet checkup caught his issue early and helped prevent dire consequences to the growth plate if it had been left unknown.

During the visit, I mentioned Ozzy whimpering often for no apparent reason. Because the vet was familiar with him, she was able to pick up on him walking strangely during his routine checkup. Long story short, he was experiencing what they call “growing pains” – just like some kids have in their legs. He grew at such a fast rate, it caused pain in the long bones of his legs. While there is not a lot that can be done medically for the condition, the vet was able to give me a customized plan for exercise and nutrition.

She recommended a good nutritional dog food such as Hill’s Science Diet and suggested restricted exercise to protect his legs as he grew. Being a large, energetic breed, I would normally have allowed for a lot of running and fetch exercise to work out all that energy. However, the vet’s recommendation was to restrict his running and exercise to prevent damage to the joints and bones as they caught up. Enrichment toys were our saving grace during this time!

Regular Vet Visits + Good Nutrition = Healthier Pets. Happier Lives.™

Regular vet visits are important in protecting your pet’s health. Vets are able to find, and diagnose, problems much quicker when they arise if they are familiar with your pet. It is also much easier and less costly to make regular routine visits than it is to treat a medical issue once it has progressed!

Nutritious food such Science Diet is also important! While Ozzy enjoys the Science Diet Grain Free, they also offer several varieties for you to choose from – for both dogs and cats!

I have a 4 yr old pit rescue, sadly his teeth were ground down as he was used as a bait dog. This makes feeding him dry food a bit tricky. We just have to find a good food that is small bites. This looks to be little bites that he could handle. It's always fun cooking dinner and stepping all through his food as it falls out of his mouth as he's eating. lol He's the sweetest big baby ever.
