Ingredients:
1 egg
⅓ cup peanut butter (chunky or creamy) - please make sure it contains NO xylitol - a sugar substitute
1 cup whole wheat flour
½ cup oats
½ cup mashed banana
Directions:
Preheat oven to 300*F.

Combine all ingredients in your mixing bowl. The order doesn't really matter.
Knead dough until a ball forms. Add a little more flour if the dough is sticky.

Flatten the dough on the counter or cutting board, either with your hands or a rolling pin. If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour.
Use some adorable doggie cookie cutters to cut them.
Prepare a cookie sheet by spritzing olive oil on it, or use parchment paper.
Bake at 300*F for about 20 minutes.
This recipe will make a few dozen cookies.
All ingredients are safe for human consumption.
NOTE: Because of the egg, I would not recommend feeding this dough to your pup while it's raw.

Yes, you can, but you will need to adjust the amount. The recipe is very forgiving, and your pups will love them just the same.
Store in an air-tight container on the counter up to 5-7 days. You can also freeze the dough if you do not want to bake them all at once.
+Simple tip for freezing cookie dough- Roll the dough into a tube shape. Freeze and then you can slice off as needed.
I use Minute Oats, but the cookies have a crunchier texture. Rolled oats will give you a more chewy cookie if desired.

These are wonderful. I have been making them for several months and keep them in a freezer bag and take out only enough for a couple days. My dog loves them and so would I if they had salt! I call them Elvis Cookies!
Anna says
Making these now... I'm going to try freezing them in a Tupperware container layered in wax paper
Kaye says
Not sure wax paper is a good idea for the freezer I put some in between. Steaks and couldn't get the paper off. It was kinda gross
Lori says
Try freezing them on the cookie sheet with parchment paper or foil. Then pop them off and keep them in freezer bags. When frozen individually, they don't stick together. I do this with the wet dog food I make for my "boys." Scoop the portions onto parchment paper lined baking sheets and freeze. Pop the pucks off and toss into freezer bags. Take out 3- 4 at a time and place in a bag in the fridge. That way you have a few days worth ready to go, and nothing goes bad.
Brenda says
My Jack loves these! The only cookie cutter I had was hearts. So cute!
Lexia says
Hey! Just want to mention if you have a small breed, it would be smart to avoid the chunky peanut butter and peanut chunks could lead to a GI obstruction which would require surgery.
Diane says
I use a pizza cutter to quickly cut the dough into rectangles and squares. Believe me, the dogs don't mind me skipping the cute factor at all and it's quicker and easier for the cook.
Michèle says
This recipe looks amazing. I might make the dough and freeze what I don't need. Thanks for sharing.
Christina says
I just made these and my dog keeps following me around hoping for another. Thanks for the great recipe.

Ive made two batches of these so far for different groups of dogs in my family and they all love them. I don't make them as thick though. I also cook them longer as they like crunchier treats, these however brown extremely quick I've noticed (in comparison to pb/pumpkin and my PB treats I make). I think it might be the natural sugar in the banana. Just wish I could cook them longer to get a crunchier non soft cookie without them becoming so dark brown so quickly. (Less moisture in the treats also make them last longer) any suggestions? Lower temp for longer? Do they harden up quickly after cooling?
Molly says
The lower temp for longer time is an idea. They do harden fairly quickly. I'm not sure there is such thing as too hard for a pup (at least compared to us humans), so it couldn't hurt to try it 🙂
DD says
I bet my dogs would love these. They absolutely adore anything with peanut butter. I can't wait to try making them!
Susan says
I'll try these this weekend. I make Peanut Butter-Pumpkin biscuits for my furbabies, also Carrot-Peanut Butter muffins, and chicken jerky. I always store my dog treats in the freezer because no preservatives are used. They thaw on the counter within a few minutes.

Thank you for sharing this great recipe! It was quick and easy to whip up. My Sadie (German Shepherd) and mom's Bella (Cairn Terrier/Poodle mix who's quite picky) gobbled them up! I made about 50 small cut out hearts with the recipe. As far as storing, I'm not worried about it because they won't last long. Thanks again! =)
Molly says
Wonderful! If you do need to store them for a bit, put them in the fridge! And, my beloved Siberian/German Shepherd that passed away a couple of years ago was named Sadie!

What can I use instead of wheat flour have tried rice flour but it crumbles. Also any wheat free recipes made with baby food
Molly says
Good question on the substituion. However, I do have one recipe that uses baby food and no wheat flour here: https://missmollysays.com/homemade-carrot-dog-treats-with-gluten-free-flour/
