Do y’all remember the story I told ya ’bout bein’ conjured up from my Lady’s furbaby Sadie after she passed? That’s alright ifin’ ya don’t. You can read about it here if ya wanna. To make a long story short, my Lady wanted Sadie close by and so Sadie’s final restin’ place is under her favorite tree out by the water pump. Sadie can watch all the happenin’s in the yard and my Lady can visit her whenever she wants, which is a lot. My Lady talks to Sadie and tells her all the happenin’s round here and what’s up with all us pups. After all, we are Sadie’s legacy! Anways, my Lady wanted to do somethin’ special for Sadie – somethin’ that would live on in her name. That’s when she discovered Pet Perennials Living Pet Memorials!
My Lady says they are the perfect living memorial for pets that have earned their angel wings, whether they are buried or cremated. They are also a pawsome gift for friends that may have lost a beloved pet! I don’t know so much about it, ‘cept it sure is right purty, so lemme round up my Lady to tell ya all ’bout it!
Here’s what my Lady had to say about Pet Perennials Living Pet Memorials
Miss Molly is right when she says that I visit Sadie quite often. She was my best friend for 10 years and was by my side through a lot of things. Even now, I get a peace about me when I visit and spill my troubles to her. She was definitely a special girl and I have been wanting to do something to honor her resting place, rather than just cold stone blocks. Sadie was so full of life and spirit and I wanted her memorial to reflect that. That is when I came across Pet Perennials! Oh my goodness! This is the most pawsome thing! It brings together my love of pets, gardening, flowers, and a bit of DIY! But, before I tell you about them and show you what I did for my Sadie, let me introduce you to this amazing company!
About Pet Perennials
Pet Perennials creates new life from the love of a pet. Love, Seeds, Life.
The team at Cherished Ones, the makers of Pet Perennials understands fully the emotional, psychological and physical effects that losing a pet can have. Their founders, Remy Bibaud and Lori Davidson have both experienced this kind of loss. Their own experiences were the inspiration for this one of a kind, living memorial product.
What is Pet Perennials Living Pet Memorials?
Whether you choose to bury or cremate your pet, Pet Perennials Living Pet Memorials are a great way to cherish and honor their life. For starters, Pet Perennials is not just a keepsake! They are “living” memorials. Because of the perennials, they keep giving year after year! Pet Perennials is a kit that contains all the supplies necessary to make seed wafers for planting. Included in the kit are perennial and annual flower seeds, which will bloom year after year. The annuals will grow and bloom, bringing life to where you plant them this year, while the perennials will bloom a year later and every year after that.
The Pet Perennials seed wafers are simple and easy to make. With only a few steps, you can have lovely seed wafers in the shape of hearts and paw prints, which can be planted in flower pots, flower beds, along a favorite path you and your pet may have visited, etc. I chose to plant mine in a couple of flower pots and along Sadie’s grave side.
For me, creating the Pet Perennials seed wafers was an act of love for my precious girl! I was happy to receive the butterfly and hummingbird perennial mix! Sadie always loved the butterflies and hummingbirds and would watch them for hours. She never tried to bother either of them – only watched as they flitted from feeder to feeder or flower to flower. I know she will be pleased when the flowers bloom! Pet Perennials also offers a pollinator mix and you can specify whether you would like dog, cat, horse, rabbit, bird, or other. So, whatever kind of beloved pet you have, they have you covered.
How to Create the Pet Perennials Seed Wafers
The Pet Perennials Kit includes:
- Easy to follow step by step instructions
- Nutrient rich soil matrix (already prepared)
- Perennial and annual wildflower seeds
- Crafting tools
- A convenient, re-usable storage container
- Planting instructions
Note: You can choose to include your pet’s cremation remains or not, it is completely up to you.
The kit will create approximately 12 seed wafers. Germination of the seed wafers (seedlings) will appear within a few short weeks. Annual flowers will begin to bloom as well. Once the perennial seeds have “wintered”, which usually takes a season, they will return year after year.
To start, I clumped the soil together and spread out slightly. I then poured the contents of the seed packet on top. Following this, I kneaded the soil and seeds until they were mixed together well.
Using the roller in the kit, roll the soil out until about 1/4″ thick.
Then, use the cute cookie cutters provided to cut out the seed wafers. Roll excess back into a ball and use the roller to again flatten and keep cutting out the shapes until all the soil is used up.
My kit made 12 seed wafers. Pet Perennials also has these adorable stationery cards that are perfect if giving as a gift for a grieving friend! The stationery can be purchased separate.
After cutting out the seed wafers, allow them to dry in a cool dry place until ready to plant. I planted mine as soon as I finished. However, if you have a special place or hiking trail you would like to plant them, they will keep for later just be careful to not let them get moist or they may begin sprouting.
Planting the Pet Perennials Seed Wafers for Sadie
I am sorry the pic is so blurry. But, it is all I have other than actual photos and I wanted you to see how beautiful she was!
After creating my Pet Perennial seed wafers, I was ready to brighten up Sadie’s place! I could already imagine her smiling and watching the butterflies and hummingbirds that would visit and say hello!
Sadie has two flower pots by her graveside, so I planted 3 seed wafers in each pot and the rest next to the pump house wall beside her. I wanted a large concentration of flowers and blooms, with a full dramatic flower showing for her!
I will admit that my hubs was looking at me a little strange, but that’s alright! He already says that the blocks, along the pump house bricks looks like a monument, but in reality it isn’t! This is just where Sadie loved to spend time. So, now, flowers are going to be blooming and hopefully butterflies and humming birds will come to visit too! My Sadie would be proud and with every bloom, I will smile knowing the memory of my Sadie girl lives on in one luscious display!
Personally, I am in love with the Pet Perennials kits! What better way to keep the memory of a beloved family pet alive?! And, like I said, whether you choose to bury your pet or cremate, there is a kit for both. If you want to include some of their ashes in the soil mixture, there is a special way to do that in the ordering.
And, oh my goodness! I have had a few friends lose their furbabies in just the last few weeks! What an amazing gift a Pet Perennials Kit would be! Not only is it a way for them to honor and cherish their pet, they can keep their memories alive for years to come!
Where to Purchase

A nice idea. When a pet would die , my mom would say. " Look for a tree that needs help and bury the pet there". Later in the year we could go visit that tree to see if it got better.
