Pets at Home? 3 Strategies to Keep It Clean

Having pets is one of the great pleasures of life, but they can mean additional housework to remove dirt, stains, and hair. You don’t have to give up on having a clean home just because you love animals. Experienced pet owners know there are a few additional steps that can help keep your house clean.

It can also reduce the amount of cleaning you do each week to keep it clean.

If you implement these steps on a regular basis, it will reduce the amount of time and labor needed in a pet-friendly household.

Here are 3 tips that will help you keep your house clean, so you can enjoy having four-footed members in your family group even more.

Pets at Home - 3 Strategies to Keep It Clean

Good Grooming Helps Cleaning

Keeping your pet well groomed is a good way to reduce the amount of hair and dirt that accumulates in your home.

Bathe your pet on a regular basis to remove hair and dirt from the coat.

Generally, you should not bathe animals more frequently than once each month. Wipe off your pet’s paws when they return from a walk to reduce the amount of dirt tracked in from the outdoors.

Daily brushing is a good way to remove loose hair that would otherwise find its way on your floors, upholstery, and bedding.

You can find a number of different types of brushes and mitts that will do a good job of removing excess hair.

You can easily give your pet a brushing while you are watching TV in the evening. Or make it a point to brush them before bedtime, and your pet will thank you for the extra attention.

Choose High-Efficiency Cleaning Equipment

If you have pets, paying the price for high-efficiency cleaning equipment can be well worth the money.

Choose a quality vacuum cleaner for carpeting, upholstery, and flooring where pets spend most of their time.

Many people find that a whole-house system, like these central vacuum parts, is the easiest way to deal with pet hair removal on a daily basis.

For households that include people with allergies, a good air filter system is vital. It keeps the number of allergens down and allows easier breathing.

A whole-house filtration system is the best. However, there are a number of room air cleaners that do a good job of purifying the air in key areas of the home.

Keep Pet Stain Supplies on Hand

No matter how conscientious you are about feeding your pet properly and taking them outside at regular intervals, there are bound to be “accidents” of one kind or another that will need cleaning up.

Smart pet owners stockpile a variety of cleaning agents to safely clean carpeting, upholstery, wood flooring, and other materials that cannot be laundered.

The manufacturers of these products often include recommendations on the correct types of cleaners that should be used.

Although it may mean some additional expense, purchase extra amounts of these products to keep on hand.

Avoid the temptation of using an “all-purpose” product, which can cause fading of colors or deteriorate the fabrics.

To clean up a mess on carpeting or fabric, remove solids from the stained area with paper towels. Then, use plain water and a sponge to soak up any liquid matter.

Carefully blot the area with the appropriate cleaning solution and blot up the excess. Repeat until the spot is clean.

Living with pets is always fun, but it can also mean additional cleaning.

Pet housecleaning can be made easier if you anticipate common problems and implement steps that can help minimize the messes.

These above steps will help you to have better control over the amount of mess and keep your house clean. Then, you can spend the time having fun with your pet, instead of cleaning up after him.

These are good tips. I think sometimes people who have pets don't realize how much odor their pet can make the house smell so much, as soon as you open the door to enter. I know from looking at homes on the market. I'm sure doing all these things on an ongoing basis would make a huge difference, and people will still want to come and visit!
