Summer is on its way and there's gonna be some hot temperatures coming with it. Yea, that kind of heat that has us walkin' 'round with our tongues hangin' out. Imagine if you had to walk around wearin' a fur coat in hundred-degree temps WOOF! Us pets like ways to cool off just like you humans do, but sometimes we need some help from you. We have come up with a list of 10 ways to keep pets cool this summer that my Lady uses and works for all pets. Be sure and share it with all your pet-loving friends to help them keep their pets nice and cool this summer.
10 Ways to Keep Pets Cool this Summer
1. Let your pet play in the sprinkler. (Molly's favorite!)
2. Allow your pet to have his or her own kiddie pool. (Ozzy and Brandi's favorite!)
3. Leave a couple of different water dishes outside, so your pet has plenty of water available.
4. Give your pet a cool bath outside and allow him or her to enjoy the cool water.
5. Fill up buckets of water and give your pet water toys to play with.
6. Put ice in your pet's water to help keep it as cold as possible in the hot weather. When my pups play outside, I have an old cooler (with the top cut off) that I fill with water. I add to it, a milk jug with frozen water. The frozen ice and the cooler keep the water nice and cool while they are having their playtime activities!
7. BRING YOUR PET INSIDE, they can't stand heat for long periods of time.
8. Give your pet constant access to water in any way possible.
9. Encourage your pet to drink water when possible.
10. Provide an outdoor shelter, or shade, out of the heat to rest in. We have a fan set up on the shaded porch, where they can rest and get a bit of air. While they are resting in the shade, let them enjoy a fun frozen Kong dog toy filled with a homemade mixture of Pumpkin and Banana! It will give them time to rest and cool off!
Providing Cool Elements Keeps Your Pet Comfortable and Happy!
In a lot of ways, pets are just like humans, they want to feel cool when it's hot out.
Pets require the same love and attention that humans desire when they want relief from the heat.
In the hottest part of the day, and at night, bring them inside to soak up some air conditioning (and remember to keep it maintained)!

Our dog loves to play and relax in her kiddie pool on those hot summer days. She has about a dozen wiffle balls in the pool to play with, and just loves it!
I really like the idea of making cold/frozen treats. Thanks!

These are all great tips for keeping your dogs cool in the hot Summer months! It gets super hot here in Texas so we definitely try to keep our girl indoors as much as possible, and very hydrated when not.

Love all these tips on helping to keep the dogs cool in the heat. My furbabies stay inside where they have access to big bowls of water (and yes, they love ice cubes in their water, especially the cats!). I keep the air on in the sunroom & the house so no one gets overheated, even after an afternoon of rough play. Thank you for sharing as lots of folks could use a heads up!

I like the idea about getting the dog a kiddie pool, I think the one dog would love it but not for sure about our older dog

These are all great tips. I wish my dog liked getting wet, it sure would make me feel more comfortable if she's out for long periods of time. Thanks.

Thanks for the Wonderful Review on 10 Ways to Keep Pets Cool this Summer! I know my 2 little shih Tzu's do not like to be hot! They go outside with us if we are working in the yard and they seem to find a shady place to lay an generally in the dirt! When we're too hot, we stop and come in and make the girls come in with us! Lately we've been running around because my father is in intensive care at Jefferson Hospital In Philadelphia. We make sure the air conditioner is on for them before we leave the house! They both sleep with us in or air conditioned bedroom! I was told that if you give your dogs ice cubes, they can get the bloat! I've been afraid to even put ice cubes in their water because of that! However, If I'm getting out ice cubes ad a couple of them fall onto the floor, they will go in the girl's water dish! If we are taking them in the car, we will start the car and run the air conditioner so that the car's not so hot when they get in. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful review, the pictures, and your personal and professional opinions on 10 Ways to Keep Pets Cool this Summer with all of us! I truly do appreciate tis very much! Thanks again! Michele 🙂
